Kamp Konocti

C.I.T.- Counselor in Training- Application for this year has passed.  Please check back in August for our next CIT season.

Hello Girl Scouts!!!

Have you heard about the Counselor In Training (CIT) Program? If you have ever attended Kamp Konocti you have seen the CITs in action!!! If you haven’t, here’s a little information.

The CIT program is designed for 9th through 11th grade Girl Scouts who are interested in learning how to be a successful camp counselor and to further develop their leadership skills. You receive class trainings throughout the year, where you will learn about the needs of children in a camp setting and have opportunities to expand your leadership skills. These trainings are fun-filled!!  You'll spend a weekend at Masonite Navarro to hone your skills. Finally, you attend Kamp Konocti summer camp where you put your counseling and leadership skills to the test. Along the way you establish lifelong friends, challenge yourself, and make memories that will never fade!

The younger Girl Scouts will love you, the adults can’t stop from singing your praise, and the camp would not be the same without the incredible  CIT’s!  Think about joining the CIT Program, you won’t be disappointed!

What you will get from the CIT program:

  1. Training
  2. Friendships
  3. Opportunities
  4. Experience
  5. Confidence
  6. Memories
  7. Fun
  8. Of course…S’mores!

Application deadline has passed for this year.  Check back in August for the 2010-11 camp year.

CITs applications are available to girls currently in 9th-11th grades.  Click on the underlined title of each CIT level to download the application.  The program has been designed to be a 3 year program, however you can be a CIT I as a 11th grader if you didn't join us earlier.

CIT I: These girls are learning the ropes of camp as a counselor and not as a camper.  They have several trainings prior to camp.  Most of the trainings involve working with younger girls.  At camp they are responsible for waking campers up each morning and getting them to the flag ceremony.  By the end of the week they are leading songs and assisting with program.

We'd love to have you at camp!

CIT II: These girls run free program for all campers.  They are very creative and have great programs.  They have a couple of training days prior to camp to plan many of our fun activities.  They are responsible for choosing our theme days, Tuesday night all camp and the closing campfire.

CIT III:These girls live in the unit with campers and are learning the role of Unit Leader as they function as an Assistant Unit Leader.  They assist the campers with their kapers, help the campers in day to day camp life and plan the welcoming campfire.
