Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my deposit non-refundable?
We are planning Kamp Konocti year round. There are deposits to pay and fees that we incur whether or not your daughter attends camp. Your registration guarantees her a spot. We start making purchases based on her registration.
When is my payment due? Payment is due in full by June 25. If payment is not received by June 26, we will presume that you have decided not to send your daughter to camp. Her spot will be given to a camper on the waiting list.
Where do I send my payment?
Kamp Konocit, P.O. Box 186, Windsor, CA 95492
What time can I drop off my daughter? Sunday, July 25, between 2pm-4pm. We understand that your daughter may have other committments that may delay their arrival. Please drop us an email if you will not arrive before 4pm. Unfortunately we can not accomodate early drop offs. We are still working to get camp ready!
What time do I pick her up? Closing ceremonies will start at 10:00 on Saturday, July 31, in the fire bowl.
What if my daughter is on medications or needs over the counter medications?
A Registered Nurse runs our infirmary. All medications will be dispensed from there. Prescription medicaiton must be in the original container with proper instructions from the pharmacy on the label. Over the counter (OTC) medications will be dispensed as needed according the bottle instructions if you sign the OTC release on the medical form. Please bring any OTC medications with your daughter. Inhalers and Epi-pens will remain on your daughter. Please provide a small fanny pack for her to keep them with her.
Why does my daughter need a physical? We want to ensure that your daughter is healthy and able to participate in camp. We want to have up to date information to care for her. Every camper needs to have a current health form completed by her parents/guardians. A physical signed by a M.D. or nurse practitioner is valid for 24 months.
I'm afraid my daughter will be homesick? Can she call me? Girls are not allowed to call home. Being away from home can be an adjustment for both campers and parents. You can help your daughter adjust to camp by sending a few familiar items with her; such as a favorite stuffed animal, a picture of the family or her pet. You can also slip an encouraging note into her duffel bag for her to find upon her arrival. Make sure that this is a positive letter telling her about all the fun she will have and how proud you are of her. Send postcards, stamps and addresses so she can write to you, other family and friends while she is having quiet time at camp. Our staff are trained to handle homesickness. However if your daughter continues to have difficulty the Camp Director or one of the nurses will call home to get suggestions from you.
How's the food at camp? Will my daughter get enough to eat? There is plenty of food at camp. Most meals are served family-style in the Dining Hall. There will be a variety of items served so each girl should be able to find enough food that she likes to keep her full and healthy. We do require that each girl drink at least one glass of water with each meal before any juice or milk. Snacks are available throughout the day. If your daughter has allergies or is a vegetarian, please drop us an email if you didn't put it on her registration form.
Where does my daughter sleep? Can she be with her friends? Your daughter will be staying in Adirondacks. These are 3 walled, roofed units with 4 sets of wooden bunk beds. You need to bring a foam pad or camping mat for under your sleeping bag. Adult unit leaders will stay in the unit with your child in nearby tents. Girls in 4th and 5th grade programs will be mixed in units. Every attempt is made to keep girls together. Drop us an email if you forgot to request a bunk mate on the registration form. Campers in all other programs sleep in units together so they will not be mixed.
My daughter registered for one program but has decided she would rather be in a different program. Can she switch?
Programs fill prior to camp. Drop us an email if your daughter would like to be put on the waiting list for a different program.
Where do I write to my daughter? Your daughter WANTS mail at camp. Getting mail is very important. Please send her a fun, up-lifting letter telling her how proud you are of her. Mail can be slow so send one the day before you drop her off or soon after she arrives at camp. Mail to: Your Daughter's First/Last Name, Kamp Konocti, P.O. Box 346, Navarro, CA 95463.
Are group pictures taken? We will take pictures of each unit in their camp shirts. 5x7 unit photos are $6.00. 8x12 group photos are $9. You can order photos when you pay your balance or when you drop off your daughter.
What's for sale in the store? Does my daughter have to bring money? Campers do not need to bring any money. Very little time is dedicated to visiting the store. The camp store will be open at camp check-in and check out and for the campers as a unit 2-3 times during the week. Items available for purchase are: t-shirts, sweatshirts, stuffed animals, jewelry items, stamps, postcards, batteries, snack food, candy etc. Candy is limited at each visit. Most items are priced under $5.00 except for some clothing items. Refunds of camp store money over $5.00 will be mailed to the parents after camp is over unless you would like to donate it to Kamp Konocti. Leftover money less than $5.00 will be automatically donated to the camp unless you specifically ask for a refund. (We encourage your daughter to spend all money once she is under $5.00!)
What type of Equipment does my daughter need to bring? Please refer to the equipment list for items she needs to pack. You and your daughter will be responsible for carrying her gear up to her unit. This might be a bit of a hike from the parking area, with a guarantee of one hill.
My daughter is in Rough and Tough or Camping and Paddle Adventure. Why do they leave camp?
We believe that the older girls need to experience part of their IP outside of camp. This gives them a greater sense of the IP and how it relates to the world they live in. A few hours are usually spent shopping in Mendocino or Fort Bragg.
